NHS England GOS Documents

General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) are now administered nationally by NHS England, with 27 area teams locally supporting and monitoring contracts. There is an area team for the Mersey area, covering Halton, Knowsley and St Helens. Cheshire team covers Warrington area, as well as other parts of Cheshire and the Wirral. Also, GOS payments are currently administered by NHS payment agencies, working on behalf of NHS England area teams.

GOS includes Mandatory contracts for eye tests carried out at community practices or Additional contracts for eye tests carried out at a patient’s place of residence, or Domiciliary services.

The LOC has good links with the area teams, payment agencies and other LOCs in the North West to to support local contractors and performers to provide patients with quality NHS eye services. In addition, we liaise with the LOC Support Unit (LOCSU) to keep a watching brief on all matters concerning GOS nationally.
